Meet Your Facilitator

Learn From a Trained Emotion Education Facilitator

Karen Gore, LICSW, discovered the Change Triangle® through Hilary Jacobs Hendel's book It's Not Always Depression. After experiencing the power of the tool in her own life and work with clients, Karen completed facilitator training with Hilary Jacobs Hendel and Heather Sanderson.

She is now pleased to bring Emotion Education 101™ to her community.

What is Emotion 101

Educational Course - Not Group Therapy

We all experience emotions, but few of us are taught how to understand them.

Emotion Education 101™ is a gentle, experiential learning experience that introduces you to the Change Triangle®, a tool for understanding emotions, defenses, anxiety, shame, guilt, and core emotions.

Through education, guided exercises, meditation, discussion, and reflection, you'll learn to relate to your emotions differently - not by trying to eliminate or control them, but by developing greater awareness and the ability to move through them.

Learn the Change Triangle®

The Change Triangle® is a tool for understanding what happens when we experience difficult emotions, anxiety, or emotional defenses.

Throughout the course, you'll learn how to:

  • Recognize and understand your emotional defenses

  • Identify avoidance and anxiety as signals

  • Name and make space for emotions

  • Connect with core emotions

  • Develop greater emotional awareness

  • Move toward a calmer, more authentic, open-hearted state

The goal isn't to change or get rid of your emotions. It's to develop a different relationship with them.

What You'll Experience

A Gentle, Experiential Approach to Emotional Learning

Each class combines:

  • Education:
Learn the fundamentals of emotions, defenses, anxiety, shame, guilt, and core emotions.

  • Experiential Exercises:
Practice noticing and working with your own emotional experience.

  • Meditation & Reflection:
Develop greater awareness of what you're experiencing internally.

  • Conversation & Connection
Explore what it feels like to talk about emotions authentically with others.

  • Questions & Discussion:
Bring your questions and learn alongside others in a supportive environment. Participation is encouraged, but no one is required to share personal experiences. This is a low-pressure learning environment.
